Artist research: GCSE/AS/ALEVEL (written work)
Artist research is the key to achieving a decent grade in art. No matter if it is GCSE or Alevel art, any exam board looks for at least 3 artist researches with good quality. A good and a well developed artist researches guarantee you marks. In my GCSE Art, I achieved an A* including a minimum of 4 developed artist researches. Here are ways to make the developed artist research.

Do not go on and write a detailed biography of the artist. DO NOT. Everyone knows how to copy from google and even if you do, make sure you put it into your own words. Instead, list the key information of the write such as : Name, Age, Nationality, and a little bit of back round information about their life. Try not to write much about the biography as it's your personal reference that matters the most.
Copying the artists work is fabulous. This shows an understanding of their techniques as well as your understanding of the artist's style. However, instead of doing exactly as the artist does, instead go and experiment with different medias yet keeping the same style. Or completely the opposite. Experiment with different styles while keeping the same media. Furthermore, experimentation increases your understanding of different sorts of art instead of always working around one.
I can't express how important development is with using secondary resources. Yes pictures copied from google are good but not enough. You need to show personal development through pictures that you took and observational sketches. As an idea, you can reproduce the photographs you took in the artist's style and technique. Or add parts of the artist's style. This shows that the artist made an impact on your work which improves your skills and knowledge. Additionally, if you prefer to hand write the information (which I personally prefer as I can then control the look of the page), try to make it as neat as possible. If it will be difficult to read, the examiner/teacher will face difficulties which might lose some marks, although some examiners do not read the annotations. You can never predict if they will read it or not, but producing a high quality artist research will always benefit your grade.
